Albany/Capital District APICS Members & Supporters,

As I begin my term as President, I would first like to thank all of you for another successful chapter year. Despite the tough economy of the past several years, participation in chapter activities has been strong and membership is growing again. As you know, our Professional Development Meeting calendar runs from September to June, so we have a couple months off until the first dinner meeting of 2012-2013. While we wait, I am going to revive the tradition of "Message from the President", something I plan to continue monthly throughout my term. Since my focus is first and foremost on our chapter, I’m going to start there.

I’m proud to say that the Albany/Capital District Chapter regularly outperforms larger chapters in monthly meeting participation. I think this is due to the attention we devote to putting on high quality events, as well as our very active encouragement of non-member participation. The fact of the matter is we are a chapter strongly focused on providing a venue for ALL companies and individuals with an interest in Operations Management to network, learn, and exchange ideas. To that end, we charge members and non-members the same for dinner meetings and any other programs under our direct control. I believe the Chapter and Association’s shared goals of membership, education, and certification will naturally flow from this inclusive approach. If you have been hesitant to attend Albany/Capital District APICS events as a non-member, or for any reason, please give us a try. We want your participation and make a conscious effort to help new attendees feel welcome.

Lastly, I would like to reiterate something I added to our chapter emails a few years ago and plan to bring up frequently: The success of our chapter depends on you!!!  Please spread the word about Albany/Capital District APICS to your friends and co-workers by discussing the benefits you’ve experienced, forwarding emails, inviting others to join our Linkedin group (http://www.linkedin.com/e/vgh/2866962/) , “liking” or “sharing” Linkedin group posts, and by bringing co-workers to dinner meetings.
